What We Do

Each year the Mason Civic League sponsors many programs that benefit thousands of residents.   However, we cannot do it alone.  It is thanks to volunteer coordinators and to our donors that the programs are possible.

Back to School Supply Program

Every year before the start of the school year the Mason Civic League participates in a program that donates book bags, pens and pencils, notebooks, glue sticks, crayons, and other school supplies to low income children in need.    This important program helps students start the school year off right and ensures that these children have the tools they need to succeed.

Halloween Costume Program

During the month of October there are a number of Halloween activities in our community.   Unfortunately, not every child can afford a costume.   The Mason Civic League assists these families by helping provide costumes to children, so they are not left out.   Last year, the most popular costumes were the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.   The Mason Civic League was proud to help create Halloween memories that will last a lifetime.

Thanksgiving Turkeys

Thanksgiving is time for families to spend time together and be thankful for the wonderful things we have in life.   The Mason Civic League assists families in need who cannot afford a Thanksgiving Dinner.   We participate in the annual turkey drive conducted by the Brian P. Stack Civic Association, as well as providing turkeys and side dishes to families to senior citizens and low income families.   We’d like to that Barbara Reyes and the Hoboken Housing Authority Rental Advisory Board for their assistance in identifying families in need and for helping distribute the food that is donated.

Holiday Toy Donations

During the holiday season the Mason Civic League donates holiday toys to families in need.   In past years, donations have been made in Hoboken, Jersey City, and Union City.   The Mason Civic League also works with community philanthropist   Professor Fernando Uribe to host an annual holiday toy drive as well.

Love Your Neighborhood

Valentine’s Day is a time to show love, not just for our sweethearts, but for our community as well.   Every year, the Mason Civic League coordinates our Love Your Neighborhood Program.  This program distributes gift baskets and treats to those who serve our community such as Fire and Safety Officers, Police Officers, Crossing Guards, Teachers, Public Works Employees, and others who serve our community.   In addition, the Mason Civic League participates in Valentine’s Day Parties for our Senior Citizens by providing cookies, juice, coffee, and tea to the various dances held around our community.  Also during this time we encourage residents to participate in community programs to help make our neighborhoods a better place to live and raise a family.Type your paragraph here.
